Power and Brown Law Firm Sponsors Oscarville Kids Don’t Float Site

The Power and Brown Law Firm sponsored another Kids Don't Float Life Jacket Loaner Site this year in Oscarville.  This is Power and Brown's second sponsor site.  The firm also sponsors a site in Napaskiak.  The Kids Don't Float Program provides a simple way for parents to borrow a properly sized children's life jacket.

"We handle personal injury cases in our law practice," Michele Power said, "We sponsored this community service project, because we thought it made sense to do something to help stop unnecessary accidents and deaths in our region."

"I have been boating all of my life, and know that wearing a life jacket that fits can save lives," said Sean Brown.  "An oversized vest can easily slip off over a kid's head, and that's where we hope we can help kids by sponsoring another local life jacket loaner site, so they can pick up a properly sized life jacket before going on the water."

Michele Power added, "These sites make it easy because children's life jackets are right on the waterfront where boaters need them and they are absolutely free. Once the family is done boating on the river, they simply return the jacket. Within 10 minutes of placing the life jackets at one of our sponsored sites 3 kids grabbed jackets before heading to the river."

Each sponsored Kids Don't Float new loaner site provides 12 life jackets including a selection of infant, child, and youth jacket sizes.  When the life jackets are properly returned these sites allow hundreds of children to safely enjoy an afternoon, day or weekend on a boat or even just swimming on the river with their families and friends all summer long.

The Power and Brown law firm was established in 2005 and has locations in Bethel and Anchorage.  The firm primarily focuses on representing individuals injured by accidents. Michele Power and Sean Brown have a combined total of approximately 25 years of legal experience representing Alaskans, and throughout their practices, both have been extensively involved in their community.
